Experience in negotiating and purchasing services on expressive value contracts in large industries is one of the necessary experiences. Having lived practice in people management is also key.

Strategic vision and ability to influence are key points to the position.


As a trusted category manager, you are accountable for the overall performance of the industrial services category continentally, be it on financials, quality, delivery time - and its related risk management. As a consequence:

You develop efficient relationships with & influence the suppliers ecosystem as well as your business partners (key users, head of platforms, divisions, sites) as prime stakeholders.

You act on the company's purchasing performance through the following levers:

  • Developing market expertise within your lead buying team

  • Designing the category strategy aligned with your business partners, looking at innovation, best practices, TCO methodology and cost drivers to articulate it

  • Understanding, influencing and optimizing the supply chain of the provider as a key lever for purchasing performance increase and risk management optimization

Convinced that managing your team is about coaching them to help them grow into stronger professionals.

Driving compliance and efficiency, making sure that applicable purchasing tools/systems for the
category are actually used and the Global Purchasing Policy, implemented. You manage risks by transversal analysis, including supplier risk profile, and you understand that as a company employee, you will uphold health & safety and ethical standards at all times, treating your stakeholders accordingly.


  • Driven and feel accountable for your area of responsibility, with a high level of autonomy

  • Have a technical expertise on purchasing processes & negotiation

  • Speak English fluently and at least one other Company language (French / Dutch / Portuguese / German), which supports your excellent communication skills

  • Liaising with your European counterpart to leverage synergies, and benchmarking with other category managers

  • Supporting your lead buyers negotiations and strategy results for Aperam, challenging where needed

  • Participating to the yearly budget preparation and ensuring the follow-up on actuals


  • Engineering or business administration academics


  • Able to sharpen your skills for at least 8 years in strategic purchasing

  • Significant experience in managing the related purchasing category at least at country level

  • Experience in team management


  • You are mobile continentally/internationally up to 30% of the time
